One year to publication!

Today marks one year until The Violin Maker will be published by Koehler Books! Already the outpouring of support for this book has been overwhelming.

The timeline of one year is bringing up all sorts of emotions. On the one hand, it feels like tomorrow, and on the other there is still so far to go. I am thrilled and honored for the opportunity to tell this story to the wider world.

When I think back to one year ago and consider all the changes that have occurred during the intervening months, sometimes I can't believe that I have arrived at this point. A year ago, the thought of having a novel published seemed like an unattainable dream. My second daughter wasn't even a year old. I had barely returned to work after maternity leave, and we were still getting settled in our house. Over the next year there will be even more changes to navigate. My older daughter will start kindergarten. I will have left the violin-repair workshop and transitioned to a career directing a yoga teacher-training program by the time The Violin Maker hits the shelves.

The biggest shift of course will be adjusting to becoming a published author. The learning curve on this is real. But what an exciting way to be reminded that there is always, in work and in life, so much more to learn!

Here is a little sneak peek at the illustration process for the cello diagram that will feature in the beginning of the book. A big thank you to my husband Alex and his company Terrill Productions for the hard work that has gone into free-drawing these images. A cello is not easy to draw!
